Registration with the Health Professions Council of Zambia is a requirement for professional practice and it is also legal to keep all personal details and practice licenses up to date at all times.

THE HEALTH PROFESSIONS COUNCIL OF ZAMBIA

The government of the Republic of Zambia, through the Ministry of Health (MoH) spearheads the provision of health services in Zambia. It is the major provider of healthcare services to the general public. With the introduction of the Health Professions Act, the Council has been given the mandate to register and regulate all Health Facilities in Zambia, both public and private and Training Institutions teaching health sciences.

The Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) is a statutory regulatory body established under the Health Professions Act No. 24 of 2009 of the Laws of Zambia. The functions of HPCZ as enshrined in the Act are as follows;

  • Registration of health practitioners and regulation of their professional conduct (except for nurses who are registered and regulated under another Act);
  • Licensing and regulation of all health facilities;
  • Accreditation of healthcare services provided by health facilities; and the
  • Recognition and approval of training programmes for health practitioners.

PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE EXAMINATIONS DATES AND FEES

This serves to inform all graduates eligible to sit for Professional Licensure Examinations that the
Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) will from Tuesday 27th December 2022 to Friday
3rd February 2023 be receiving applications for the first examinations slated for first quarter of 2023. The first Professional Licensure Examinations of 2023 will be conducted from Monday 20th February to Friday 3rd March 2023. Candidates under each profession will sit for one Theory and one Practical paper. The Professional Licensure Examinations will be held simultaneously in Ndola, Lusaka and Livingstone, at specific locations to be communicated in due course.Applications forms will be free and available at all HPCZ Offices or can be downloaded from the HPCZ website at www.hpcz.org.zm. The prescribed fees for 2023 Professional Licensure Examinations are the same as they were in 2019.

REMINDER TO HEALTH PRACTITIONERS, HEALTH FACILITIES AND TRAINING INSTITUTIONS

The renewal exercise for 2020 certificates and licenses runs up to 31st December 2019. Please note that there will be no extension. You are duly reminded to comply with the conditions of your certificate/license.
Renewal payments must be deposited at any designated Zambia National Commercial Bank Branch using the Bill Master Platform or at any STANBIC Bank Branch using the following details:

*Cheques must be deposited directly into the stated Stanbic Bank Account. HPCZ no longer receives cheque payments at all its offices.

RENEWAL AND DOWNLOADING OF PRACTICING CERTIFICATES ONLINE TO ALL HEALTH PRACTITIONERS ON GOVERNMENT PMEC SYSTEM(ZAMBIANS AND NON-ZAMBIANS)

HPCZ would like to inform all Health Practitioners (Zambians and Non-Zambians) on the Government Payroll Management Establishment and Control (PMEC) System, that online renewal services is strictly for renewing, downloading and printing of practicing licences.

NOTICE TO ALL HEALTH PRACTITIONERS, HEALTH FACILITY MANAGERS, TRAINING INSTITUTIONS, STAKEHOLDERS AND GENERAL PUBLIC ON THE SUSPENSION OF FACE-TO-FACE INTERACTION WHEN CONDUCTING BUSINESS WITH THE HEALTH PROFESSIONS COUNCIL OF ZAMBIA

The Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) is hereby informing all health practitioners, health facilities, training institutions, stakeholders and the general public that face-to face interaction with HPCZ staff at ALL its offices, when conducting all manner of business has with immediate effect from Monday 11th January 2021, been temporarily suspended until further notice. This measure has been inevitably necessitated in the wake of escalating second wave of Covid-19 cases as shared by the Ministry of Health (MoH) whose guidelines require action such as this one to curb the spread of the pandemic.
