The Examinations Department’s core function is to manage and conduct professional Licensure Examinations in order to assess the suitability of health professionals to register and practice their profession regulated by the Council. Pursuant to the Health Professions Act No. 24 of 2009 Section 4 (1) (k), “ the Council is mandated to do all things as are necessary or incidental to the performance of its functions under this Act.”

 

The Health Professions Act No. 24 of 2009 Section 7 (1) states that “a person who wishes to be registered as a health practitioner, shall apply to the Council for registration in the prescribed manner and form upon payment of the prescribed fee.”

 

The primary mandate of Health Professions Council of Zambia is to safeguard and protect the public, therefore, the Council is obliged to ensure registration of competent and appropriately qualified health professionals. The Professional Licensure Examinations are implemented as one of the measuring instruments to register health professionals.
