The Department is responsible for the accreditation of Health Care Services and approval of training programmes for health practitioners.
Accreditation of Health Care Services.
Part VI of the Health Professions Act, mandates the Council to accredit health Care Services. It is a requirement that licensed health facilities intending to provide Health Care Services apply to the Council for accreditation.
Approval & Regulation of Training Programmes
Pursuant to Section 32 of the Health Professions Act, a training institution shall not provide, or hold out as providing, training to prepare students for a health profession, unless the training programme is approved by the Council. A training institution that intends to offer training in a health profession shall apply to the Council for approval of the training programme in the prescribed manner and form upon payment of the prescribed fees.

- Accreditation procedures for Internship Sites.
The Council printed and distributed Guidelines for Accreditation of Continuing Professional Development Providers. It is expected that these centres will be accredited the coming year.
